Larmandier-Bernier has been rated as one of Champagne’s top five producers by Andrew Jefford in his celebrated work, The New France : “Few growers’ ranges in Champagne are as consistently outstanding as that of Larmandier-Bernier”.

Champagne Larmandier-Bernier is an exceptional grower-producer and definitely one of the top producers of the Côte des Blancs. The small house had a long history dating back to the French Revolution and today is directed by Pierre and Sophie Larmandier, who own just under sixteen hectares in some of the finest villages on the Côte des Blancs: Cramant, Chouilly, Oger and Avize (all Grand Crus), as well as in the fine premier cru village of Vertus.

The Larmandiers produce world class wines that speak of the inimitable terroirs of the Côte des Blancs. They practice a non-interventionalist philosophy in the vineyards with an emphasis on low yields, using biodynamic methods (certified) to produce the finest possible fruit in each vintage; the results are astounding: intense, minerally and exquisite Champagnes to satisfy even the most unforgiving of critics.

An important element is that the underlying terroir is expressed best with very minimal levels of dosage, or - in the case of Terre de Vertus - no dosage at all. Consequently, all of the Larmandier-Bernier wines are Extra Bruts or Zero Dosage. The bottles are riddled and disgorged by hand. They produce as little as 100’000 bottles a year.

Larmandier-Bernier has been awarded with the rare Robert Parker Green Emblem which is given in recognition of the most extraordinary cases of sustainable efforts in the wine industry. Robert Parker Green Emblem wineries are those that extend their efforts far beyond the requirements for organic and biodynamic certification. They are true ambassadors for sustainability, leading the charge to make our industry and our planet a better place for current and future generations.
