It is an absolute curiosity to find a pure champagne made from one of these super rare varieties. Petit Meslier is one of the four ancient and almost forgotten grape varieties and one of the seven permitted in Champagne. The Laherte family decided to replant Petit Meslier because of its strong personality and to preserve this grape variety of champagne. From the crossing of Gouais Blanc and Savagnin, it offers rare and intense taste experiences. The plot is located in their home village of Chavot, in the middle of the hills, with clay soils up to 1.5 meters, then soft chalk. Young vines planted in 2014 and in 2018. This is a blend of several harvests with about 40% reserve wines.

A great and at the same time strangely idiosyncratic champagne, with this immense, all-pervasive acidity and the peculiar herbal spice. You simply have to try it once.

Antonio Galloni Tasting Notes :The NV Extra Brut Petit Meslier is fabulous. Rich and effusive, the Petit Meslier exudes tremendous aromatic intensity and depth. Yellow flowers, mint, spice, lemon confit and marzipan are some of the many notes that soar out of the glass. All the elements are so well balanced. There's tons of depth and vinous intensity here. Best of all, the Petit Meslier is a total knock-out. 94/100.
