Champagne BRUYEN, Marfaux, Montagne de Reims, RM
Champagne for the pleasure of the moment
Founded in 1850, the BRUYEN House has been making champagne under their own name since 1920. During World War II, the family buried their annual production of 800 bottles in the family garden in Passy-Grigny when the tanks arrived, in order to protect their yearly production. In 1945, upon returning from the war, they unearthed the bottles and set off for Paris by bicycle (120 kilometers) to begin commercializing their product. Upon arriving in Paris, they delivered bottles to some rather famous places known as “Guinguettes”. The guinguette was a festive and popular place that served as a bistro, restaurant, and dance hall where people could have fun and meet others. It is associated with moments of celebration, sharing, and joy among friends or family. These are moments of strong emotions accompanied by products filled with sentiment. It is the French art of living; it is the spirit of Champagne BRUYEN.
Today, this bicycle in the iconic logo recalls the origins and pays tribute to the previous generations who traveled from Reims to Paris with champagne bottles in their bicycle baskets.
Champagne BRUYEN is also the story of family know-how that has endured for six generations, with Gregory now in charge. Champagne Bruyen, Récoltant Manipulant, spans 8 hectares, 6 hectares in Passy-Grigny and 2 in Marfaux, and produces fewer than 20’000 bottles per year. The house selects the best grapes for their own production to ensure consistent quality. The family primarily works with Pinot Meunier and creates unique, natural, and varied wines in a modern look.
In the vineyard, Gregory is naturally inclined towards organic viticulture. In the cellar, he is carried away by various oenological whims.
