The Grumier family history dates back to 1743. Grower-producer Maurice Grumier has been a figure in the Marne Valley for nearly 300 years. They’ve sold fruit to established houses like Perrier-Jouet and Tattinger for years. The house is now run by Fabien, who works with 39 plots in 8.5 hectares in the village of Venteuil and the surrounding villages of Reuil, Dormans, Nesle is delicious and le Repons and Festigny. He creates his own range of crisp, linear style of wines which are delicious and characterful with a great potential to age. The annual production is approx. 70'000 bottles.
We recently discovered Grumier during a trip to Champagne. It wasn’t long into our tasting with Fabien Grumier that we realized we just found another phenomenal and very innovative producer with his own great secrets and differentiated wines.
Fabien and his wife Hélène invest enormously in the modernization and the quality of champagne production. New cuvées are developed and viticulture is largely converted to organic farming, so that additional fertilization and the use of insecticides have long been abandoned and they therefore obtained the HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) certification. The vines are on average 27 years old. The oldest vines are 48 years old.
