Meet our Champagne legend Francis Egly from Ambonnay, the Montagne de Reims area with wines that are monumentally powerfull, sophisticated and intense, with clarity of fruit and mineral intensity, having no equivalent in the entire region. Egly-Ouriet offers a terroir style that is driven by Pinot Noir with a Burgundian vinosity.
Egly’s quality of his vineyards, his search of for ripe fruit and a long cellar maturation. Only first-rate vineyards can produce truly ripe fruit in the marginal climate of Champagne and Francis Egly often starts harvesting when others long finished. Egly allows the wine to express their quality and their terroir. True grower-producers like Egly source their grapes only from their own vineyards; having, unlike many big Champagnes houses, complete control over vineyard, selection and all elements of the winemaking process. Francis Egly also minimise the use of sugar addition and follows a very natural winemaking regime with no fining or filtration and low levels of sulphur. This means that Egly-Ouriet wines show more personality and integral character. Annual production app. 100’000 bottles.
