The history of Legras extends back some 200 years with seven generations of vine growers and three generations of wine makers but the family brand Legras & Haas joined in 1991 by Francois & Brigitte Legras and their 3 sons.
The virtues of grower Champagne are well known, but in a world of great grower-producers, Legras & Haas promises to be a stand out. With 34 hectares of vines across Chouilly in the Cote des Blancs, they produce an especially elegant and precise portfolio of Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagnes. The Pinot Noir for the Rosé comes from selected plots in Les Riceys, a terroir also known to champagne connaisseurs. Every plot is harvested and fermented separate to allow for a large range of material for their assemblages. Only the best grapes and the first press is used for their own Champagne, the rest is sold to some of the well known bigger houses.
The Legras family is always very pleased to meet champagne enthousiasts and loves to share their work and winemaking practices. Annual production app. 160’000 bottles.
