100% Chardonnay, Dosage 4 g/l – Extra-Brut
The lieu-dit ‘Les Harengs’ is located in Bergères-les-Vertus, a Premier Cru village at the southernmost tip of the Côte des Blancs. Relatively rare in this part of the Côte des Blancs, this hillside benefits from full southern exposure, and it is halfway up the slope, on a 1.6-hectare plot, that these sun-drenched Chardonnays truly flourish. The combination of clay-limestone soils and this favorable exposure produces opulent grapes, in subtle contrast with the northern slope of the Côte des Blancs. Vinified in tank and small oak barrels, the wine strikes a balance between a delicate nose (sweet almond, lemon tart, and vegetal notes) and a lively, taut palate. A fine salinity, a subtle minerality, vibrant fresh with a hint of citrus, carries through to a long and opulent finish.
This young vintage embodies all the elegance and complexity of the great Blanc de Blancs, as well as the expertise of the Bonnaire family. It pairs very well with mildly aged cheeses and is fully expressed alongside firm-fleshed fish with buttery sauce.
