The non-dosage Terre de Vertus Vintage Champagne is produced from two top vineyards in the village of Vertus: Les Barillers and Les Faucherets, which are located in the heart of the Vertus vignoble, mid-slope on the rolling hills of the village with chalk and limestone soil. The vines are farmed biodynamically and the grapes are harvested by hand. The wine undergoes its alcoholic and malolactic fermentations in old oak casks, rather than stainless steel, and is generally aged a minimum of four years in the cool cellar prior to hand disgorgement and release. It is universally considered one of the most profound Zero Dosage Brut Nature produced in all of Champagne and ages brilliantly.
Disgorged in 2018 the 2013 Brut Nature Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru Terre de Vertus unfurls with notes of lemon oil, oyster shell, pastry cream and crisp green apple that gains in definition and purity with time in the glass. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with a pinpoint mousse, lovely venosity, fine depth at the core and a mouthwateringly saline, chalky and decidedly dry finish.
