70% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay; Dosage 2g, base vintage 2017
The Grand Cru is an excellent champagne and a great introduction to the house style. Labeled Brut, this wine is an extra-brut with a minimum dosage of 2g/l. This champagne used to be marketed as a “Tradition”. After the introduction of Les Prémices, this wine deserves more than this designation as it has been aging on the lees for 4 years, more than other houses spend on their prestige cuvée. Grand Cru is probably one of the best non-vintage wines in Champagne. This wine from Grand Cru Ambonnay impresses with its extremely fine perlage and the golden-yellow color in the glass. With a pleasant acidity, lots of fruit, smoky notes, fine maturity, complex and full-bodied with lots of substance and power, good length and reverberation, this is a signature wine of the house.
